I’m a researcher and teacher-educator based in the Department of Education at Maynooth University in Ireland.
My expertise lies in participatory methodologies with young people in care, particularly teenagers. My research focuses broadly on the manifestations of educational disadvantage and inequality through the perspectives and expertise of young people. Most recently, this has included working with young people about questions of school attendance, school access, and agency as a provocateur of school engagement.
As a teacher-educator, my focus and interest is in the philosophy of education and social justice education. I love working with dialogic inquiry and principles of philosophy for children.I’m also an editor on Rundale.org, an online Irish media group sharing critical left analysis and collaborative writing on contemporary socio-economic, political and environmental issues, with an all-island focus.
